Leaky faucets in your bathroom or your kitchen are common emergency plumbing issues. As a homeowner, you do not need special plumbing tools to correct a leaky faucet. There are two main types of faucets: a compression faucet and a cartridge faucet. To repair on of these faucets, you need to turn off the water supply and use an Allen wrench to disconnect the faucet and find the problem.
Drain blocks are also common in your kitchen, bathroom, pool pumps pipes, and even your sprinkler. Drain clogs in your kitchen and your bathroom are easily corrected using a plunger. Remove the strainer from the drain opening and press the plunger on the drain. Fill your sink with water to cover the plunger cup and then pull it up to unclog the drain. Repeat this until the drains are unclogged.
Clogged drains and toilet can also be unclogged using a drain snake. For the toilet, you can use a kitchen auger – push the auger into the toilet to ensure clogging is stopped. If the auger, the snake, and the plunger do not work, you will need to seek the services of a professional plumber.
When a part of your plumbing system is having issues, whether it is your kitchen appliances or irrigation system or PVC pipe systems, you need to turn off water supply first. This ensures that the problem is not exacerbated.
