DESIGNING PATH OF A MASTERPIECE

Born in Bari and graduated in 2002 at the European Institute of Design, Giampietro Preziosa in 2003 starts cooperating with the Pasquali Associati Studio in Rome until 2008, when he opens his own studio in Rome to focus on interior design, restaurants and cinema and television set design. Another interior design studio sees the light in 2009 in Paris, the other design capital that he alternates to the beloved Rome.

Preziosa prefers to communicate his idea of design through his works that are very often displayed in the world most important museums and exhibitions, and he leaves all explanation to the images and sensations raised in the user-spectator.

The charm of nature and its forms is often a source of inspiration for him, according to Marco Simon Puccioni "Man has always stretched towards antrophization of the animal world and Preziosa with his zoomorphic seats reinvents this tradition, and filters it through a design that links everyday life with the myth".

Besides dreamlike forms and shapes like the chairs Formica, Rondine, Cobra, Coccinella (Ant, Swallow, Cobra, Ladybug), the inner reconstruction of nature and everyday life give birth to evocative objects such as the lamp Riparo or the chair Pino, the latter devoted to Pino Pascali who comments that "Some build up their houses just as if they built their personality, and the space created is fantastic!"

Walking along with these, other forms and shapes are borrowed from nature, from everyday life – like the coat hangers Mestolo and Forchetta (Ladle and Fork), from literature – like the tableware Che animale sei? (What animal are you?), or the multipurpose object Funghetto (Mushroom), an integrated table and pouf which joins pleasantly the softness and warmth of felt with the rigor and coldness of metal, just as an of harmoniously unbalanced jigsaw.



In his projects Preziosa shows the recreational side of the spontaneous invention, magnifying and stylizing the aspects of nature and objects from everyday use. He draws out from time to time curious and functional objects that unite the rigor of research to the personality of invention, un- expected objects which expand in dimensions or use but maintain the inspirational idea, translating from toy to furniture or complement.
