INDUSTRIAL DESIGN, A JOB WHICH REQUIRES HUGE PASSION
by Fausto Di Martino
My interpretation of design is based on aesthetic clarity, therefore I am in continual search of an aesthetical and technical balance.
This balance lead me to join together the life of designer and artisan. This guideline is supported by my great passion for Scandinavian design, a linear, simple design on the senses but very attentive to the technical solutions, in the complete respect of the object’s functionality.
In my professional path I had to face many different aspects of the project creation, as nowadays market ‘s needs, the variety in the materials, the problems linked to the environmental recycle and the piece’s final collocation.

All what above said to bring to life a product able to satisfy the final customer on all the sides of taste, usefulness, comfort at an affordable price according to the market’s requests.

I like to design objects to last in time, so it is easy to understand what influence had the visions of such masters as Gio Ponti, Marco Zanuso, Achille Castiglioni, Vico Magistretti, Alvar Aalto, Arne Jacobsen, Hans J.Wegner, Bruno Mathsson.

I was born in Cantù in 1968,and actually I am working here. After having attended the school of art I went in my father’s workshop where I gained an education in making prototypes and in the serial production of metal furniture; in the meantime I have cooperated with architects in finding the solutions to my first technical and aesthetical problems in the products.

In 1998 I joined Fauciglietti Engineering, a designer’s studio, which designs products starting from the aesthetical drawing passing through the prototype to reach engineering, and thanks to this cooperation I have improved my knowledge in such a way that it allowed me to dedicate all my time to design.

I have had my own designer’s studio, I deal with design, engineering, preparation, graphics and I cooperate with other professionals inother fields.
Among my partnerships I can name Bonaldo, Colico Design, Desalto, Dexo, Exde, Gallotti&Radice, La Cividina, Linfa and other small companies. I had acknowledgements and I have been nominated twice in the Young Design competition.
My greatest desire and interest is to make a design able to raise people’s smile.
