Heedful of everything in state of genesis, Daniel Rode designs objects that he wants to be functional and good-looking.
His creations express the paradoxical conjugation between a strong realism and a dreamlike levity.
He works using a language of shapes through which every piece of furniture becomes a tribute to essentiality and pureness.
Daniel Rode was born in France in 1967. After obtaining a degree in Architecture and Design in Paris, he started on his career in the fashion world, designing bags and accessories in China and Hong Kong. He opened his own design studio in 1991 and focused his creativity on the world of interior furnishings. After a few years, he moved to Italy, where he still lives.
He currently works for many of the most exciting Italian and International firms. His work always displays his care for the human body: increasingly ergonomic products featuring unconventional solutions using flexible materials.
His work has received major accolades: from a special mention at the Young&Design competition in 1996 and 1997 to the second prize for Best Design of the Year at the Montreal Furniture Show in 2000 and, for two years running, the Chair of the Year award at the Promosedia International Chair Exhibition in 2004 and 2005. He also won six Top Ten awards at Promosedia in recent years.
