DESIGNING PATH OF A MASTERPIECE
Manuela Busetti and Andrea Garuti met during their Industrial Design courses at the IED (European Design Institute) in Milan, where they graduated in 2003. During their studies, they entered the projecting process and were selected for the “Young Design Selection” on the XX edition of the ADI Compasso D’Oro (Golden Compass), with their essay “Double”, a thermo-bag characterized by innovative shape and material. In fact it was made in neoprene, an insulating material normally used for scuba diving.
After the academic period, they tart their activity as free-lancers and cooperated individually with some Design studies in Milan. In 2004 they began cooperating with Vitruvit, a ceramics factory for which they have designed several collections so far.
In the following years they have designed for diverse contests and companies with various production lines like Robex, IB Rubinetterie and others.

Their 2007 project Belly cradle won the 1st prize in the international contest Playing Design organized by the Lissone township and sponsored by La Triennale di Milano. The jury expressed their unanimous opinion: “for the cleanness, the simplicity and the capability of answering to the primal needs of closeness and tenderness with the newborn”. In 2011 the Belly cradle project enters the industrial production thanks to Pam srl, an Italian company specialized in baby furniture and tools.

Both designers have been selected in 2008 to participate to the project “Prime Cup 01” organized by the region Lombardy and la Triennale, and they have therefore cooperated with four companies for which they have conceived many different product typologies: a bentwood table for Emmebimobili, a gazebo in aluminum beam for Tensoforma, a patio chair in wrought iron for San Pietro and the study of a new Corporate Identity for Ima.
Matteo Redaelli, graduated in 2007 at the IED, met the other two designers in the same year when they worked together for a design studio in Milan. They decided afterwards to keep merging their sensitivity and skills to create new projects, in a continuous cooperation.
The year 2009 brought the Studio to cooperate with the faucets company Webert. Between 2010 and 2011 the kitchen faucets Siema, Ratio and Centinox enter the Franke catalog. Franke chose the latter for the centennial celebrative collection.
In 2010 Cristalplant and Zanotta organized a coffee table contest, which the designers won with the Naica table. They also start working with Aico Design (furnishing complements) and Talenti (outdoor furniture).
Peculiar to their approach to design is the attentive research on technologies and materials that they study, re-elaborate and decontextualize, giving birth to objects characterized by innovative traits and performance.
